Whois Privacy Protection, occasionally also referred to as WHOIS or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that hides the authentic contact details of domain registrants on WHOIS check websites. Without this service, the personal name, postal address and email account of any domain name owner will be openly visible. Providing false details during the domain registration process or altering the authentic info at a later time will just not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain registrant losing their ownership rights. The policies adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), require that the WHOIS info must be valid and accurate at all times. The Whois Privacy Protection service was launched by domain registrars as a response to the growing concerns for possible identity fraud. If the service is active, the registrar company’s contact details will be shown instead of the registrant’s upon a WHOIS check. Most domains support the Whois Privacy Protection service, even though there are some country-code extensions that don’t.

Whois Privacy Protection in Website Hosting

If you get a website hosting plan from us, you’ll be able to activate Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domain names if their extensions support this option. You can register or transfer a domain name and enable Whois Privacy Protection during the signup procedure or you can activate the service for any of your domain names at any moment afterwards through the Hepsia Control Panel. The process is extremely easy – once you log in, you will have to go to the Registered Domains section where you’ll find a list of all the domain names that you’ve registered with our company. For each of them you’ll notice an “Whois Privacy Protection” button, which will inform you if the service is enabled or not. By clicking on it, you can either Whois Privacy Protect the domain, or you can deactivate the service if it is currently activated.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

In case you would like to hide the contact info for your domain name and you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will be able to activate our Whois Privacy Protection service either during the signup process or at any time afterwards through our Hepsia Control Panel. The service is optional and can be activated with a few clicks from the Registered Domains section of the Control Panel where all the domain names that you have registered with us will be displayed in alphabetical order. You can order Whois Privacy Protection for any of the TLD extensions that support the service by simply clicking the “Whois Privacy Protection” logo next to each domain name. In the very same manner, you can also renew the service or remove it – if you want to transfer a domain to another registrar company and you need the actual mailbox associated with the domain name to be visible.
